DAAD Scholarships Germany 2026 (Development-Related Postgraduate Courses)
Fully-funded master's and PhD scholarships at top German universities. ~50 postgraduate programmes. Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) EPOS programme offers scholarships to students from developing countries for selected master's and PhD programmes at German universities with strong development relevance — covering engineering, economics, agriculture, public health, social sciences and more.
What you get
Full tuition waiver (at public universities in Germany it's already free), monthly stipend of €992 for master's / €1,300 for PhD, payments towards health insurance, airfare, study and research allowance, and German language course (2–6 months before the programme starts).
Eligibility
Bachelor's degree (4-year minimum) in a relevant field, at least 2 years of relevant professional experience, English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 90) or German B1 for German-taught programmes, and a development-related motivation for study in Germany.
Deadlines
Most courses have application deadlines between August and October for courses starting the following October. Apply directly to the chosen course at the university (not DAAD), and indicate you'd like to apply for the EPOS scholarship. The university then nominates you to DAAD.
