Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2026
Fully-funded postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge for outstanding applicants from outside the UK. Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship was established in 2000 with a $210 million donation from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It awards ~80 scholarships per year to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Cambridge.
What you get
University composition fee, maintenance allowance (£21,000+/year), airfare, visa costs, health insurance, family allowance for married scholars, fieldwork allowance for PhD students, and a discretionary academic development fund.
Eligibility
Citizen of any country outside the UK, applying for a full-time master's or PhD at Cambridge, with a strong academic record and outstanding leadership potential. There is no age limit, but the typical scholar is 22–35.
