Fully-funded undergraduate and master's scholarships at 33 partner universities across Africa, US, UK, Canada, EU, and Middle East. Targets academically talented, financially disadvantaged students with leadership potential.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is a $1.3 billion initiative to educate and empower the next generation of African leaders. It now operates at 33+ partner institutions including McGill, Sciences Po, University of Edinburgh, KNUST, Ashesi, Makerere and many more.
What you get
Full tuition and fees, accommodation, books and supplies, transport, meals, comprehensive support (mentoring, career counselling, leadership development), and a transition fund for graduates returning home.
Eligibility
Academically talented, financially disadvantaged, committed to giving back to your community, and from a country on the Mastercard Foundation's Africa and Indigenous Communities list. Most partnerships focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, with some at top global universities.
How to apply
Apply directly to the partner university of your choice (not to the Foundation). Each university has its own deadline and application form — common windows are October–January for September intake.
